Beyond Outward Appearance\ Redefining Beautiful\

Beautiful by artscience84 Profile Image

January 08, 2019\\
California, USA\\

This project originally began as a simple tool for collecting images of beautiful women but, has since evolved into a more cultural study including mental and spiritual beauty.

The stance long adopted here is that being beautiful has significantly more to do with a person's mind and soul than simply "looks". Unfortunately, this stance is frowned upon by a majority of the "leaders" of the culture of beauty so, finding like-minded individuals can be difficult.

People everywhere but, especially women, can be beautiful wearing larger sizes and unconventional styles, with stronger personalities and non-traditional careers and without being in front of the camera altogether.

While, I still collect beautiful images for study of the art, I am mindful of the message, identity and social awareness of the models, magazines and content creators that I reblog, retweet and share on social media. It is exclusively for Ladies Only but, also accepting of all races, religions and beliefs, including LGBTQ+, adult entertainers and sex positive models, actresses, photographers, poets, painters, dancers, writers and more.

Personally, I would like to work with models and create photographs that exhibit these qualities. Currently, all I have to contribute are images of flowers, many would consider, the next best thing.

What is the Our World Cares Initiative? | @OurWorldCares | #advocacy #ourhomeless

Nearly 5 years ago, a Twitter account was created to influence change and foster awareness of the housing crisis in America. By organizing accounts, sharing news stories and injecting positive affirmation, @OurHomeless was a passion project that would grow into service of more than just the US.

Being surrounded by charitable people tends to lend itself to gratitude. And with that gratitude, it becomes impossible to overlook the many causes and foundations around the world doing wonderful things for others.

So, as of August 18, 2018, @OurHomeless is expanding it's focus to a more global advocacy program. While ending homelessness remains a top priority, the new platform allows integration of multiple avenues for people to find, join, support and share their passions for Mental Health Awareness, Veterans Affairs, Life Threatening Illness Prevention and Treatment, Emergency Relief and so much more.

The screen name "Our Homeless" was about taking ownership. The issues that present themselves will not be solved by those who will not acknowledge and accept them. Homelessness is a societal issue, not just somebody else's to deal with.

"Our World Cares" is in the same vein. Living a world of peace, kindness and happiness requires care. It requires much effort and sacrifice and it will not be done for us. We must create that world. This initiative is an affirmation. This is Our World. We want peace, kindness and happiness in the world we live in. That is what we do.

Our World Cares.

Meditation Blog - May 24

Hello, again.
Peace to you.

For many years, I have been drawn to spirituality, native ideology, eastern philosophy and the like.

Today, I consider myself agnostic. I somewhat agree with everyone but, no specific discipline has "got all of it right" in my opinion.

     That's all beside the point.

I want to blog about the practice of meditation.

The essence is the awareness of one's breath. Focusing on your breathing, slowing things down and being mindful are what I imagine the goals of this practice to be.

I've practiced stillness before but, don't feel comfortable saying that I "meditate".

One day, recently, a thought came to me about the practice of meditation. Usually, pairing it with chants or mantras is an effective addition.
Personally, I've taken to counting.

Which leads me to this post. I have chosen the number 84, for obvious reasons and I will begin to take note of how much time passes each time I make a conscious effort with the stopwatch app on my phone.

The idea is that the more effective sessions will result in more time passing as a result of slower and more mindful breathing.

     I'm reminded of a quote:
"If you don't have 20 minutes to meditate, you need an hour"

Try this yourself. Let me know what you find. Feel free to ask questions and even share your own wisdom.

Thank you.
Josh
