#ClubBouquet\The Harmony Returns!\

Harmony Anemone by ClubBouquet for artscience84

January 09, 2019\\
California, USA\\

Here's the latest from the Garden\

As a garden beginner, this was tough. I bought this plant and it was beautiful but then, it withered away and for months it was just a pot of dirt. via Instagram

This the first time I've dealt with an annual, a plant that disappears and returns every year. I spend a lot of time worrying about underwatering, then, overwatering and then trying to compensate for the ridiculous SoCal summer heat. It hasn't been all success, I tell you.

However, here this one is. So, celebrate!

You can get a look at the full sized photo of this and more from the Patron Exclusive Photo Gallery on the Blog\ https://www.patreon.com/posts/patron-exclusive-23881979

Changes to the Culture\\

January 05, 2019\\
California, USA\\

Good evening, world!

If you've been here before, you may be noticing some slight changes. If that's so, you may also be aware that this constellation is forever changing. Upon reflection and analysis, it's been decided that this particular space was in need of a re brand.

The change will only be minimal. The title has gone from #Blog84 to #84Culture. The simple reason being that, someone else is using the 'Blog84' text on Social Media and I feel like the root system here isn't deeply established yet, so moving it around shouldn't cause any damage.
(Garden reference)

This reboot\ is also more inclined to include content from outside of the #artscience84 network. I was hesitant to become a "blogger" and feel like I was just using buzzwords and hot topics to attract you to my own content. After some self discussion, I've come to peace with it. As long as the outside content that I choose to share with you, here, is somewhat relevant to the overall 'culture' then, I'm okay with it.

Be advised. I blog freely and independently and content that I promote or encourage you to engage with is completely at my own discretion. I DO NOT RECEIVE COMPENSATION. If I share a product or service it is because I genuinely enjoy using it myself. (I do, however, employ adsense. Those are generated by google but, I trust those to be accurate and on target for you and they do provide me with a certain compensation)

Anyway, due to the nature of this ever changing system of creation, there is always much to be done, so, adios for now. Enjoy your weekend!

Is there anything specific that you would be interested in seeing discovered, here?
Let it be known.

Cheers,
Josh\ #84Culture

Promoting Content with Ads on Instagram | #as84rose #marketing

It's been an exciting day, so far, over on Instagram. After some initial success, IG suggested that I promote this post and I decided to give it a try.

I've been wondering about the different ways to promote content on social media, especially since they've made it pretty easy to do.

One concern I had was, with such a small budget, would it even be worth the trouble. I won't go into details but, I opted for a low dollar amount and a week long campaign.

Have you had any success creating social media campaigns? Let me know in the comments.

Anyway, it's going great! I put some thought into the target demographics and have received lots of likes. Not many follows or action responses, yet. (My ad points to a page on my website about this image.)

It's currently 3 am on the West Coast and it's been 12 hours since the campaign launched. I expect that there will be another push once the European evening audience has a look.

I'll give it another day or so and let you know how it goes.

You can check it out on Instagram, here.

3 Facts About The Mosquito Plant | #clubbouquet #science

This is Citronella, aka the Mosquito Plant

It's widely believed that it repels mosquitos with a "soapy" scent. If you have one of those outdoor repelling candles it's probably made of this plant. For one, I had no idea that this plant produces flowers. Second, I've had some of my best propagation results with this plant. However, I've read conflicting reports that the plant itself doesn't repel, in fact, some mosquitoes actually land right on it.

So, I decided to do some research and I found these interesting facts:

#1: IT'S EDIBLE

One of my awesome followers on Instagram (Champagne Tastes) commented with recipe for a simple syrup made from citronella. It makes a great sweetener for your summer drinks.
Check it out here

#2: THERE ARE TWO VARIETIES

Although known as "The Mosquito Plant", the Citronella GERANIUM isn't the variety used in those backyard candles you may be familiar with. It is a leafier plant, like a lettuce and it also flowers.

When you use the repellant, though, you're using a product derived from the Citronella GRASS variety. As you may have guessed, it has long, thin blades produces an oil that is very effective at repelling mosquitos. It is not poisonous but, it can produce an allergic effect.

Don't worry, though. Both varieties are very distinct and it's not very likely that you will get them mixed up.

#3: IT HAS PRACTICAL HEALTH BENEFITS

The GRASS, anyway, has lots of homeopathic uses such as mosquito repellant, aromatherapy, anti-inflammation, fever reduction and deodorant! Whether, you burn it, apply it or ingest it, the grass variety is very beneficial in many ways.

The GERANIUM is also believed to repel mosquitos but is more useful as an edible sweetener and even the dried leaves can make a nice potpourri

#84Bing Search of the Day: "propagate succulents" #clubbouquet

Bing Search of The Day:Propagate Succulents

They are some the easiest plants to care for and yet, they're some of the easiest to mess up with overwatering.

That said, I enjoy succulents. They're cheap, thrive in the climate I live in and they look very cool.

Add that to the idea of propagation, the art of growing new plants from cuttings of existing plants, they're essentially, FREE!

(I've also taken an interest in propagating roses. Follow #ClubBouquet to keep an eye on my progress)

I haven't had any initial success with propagation just yet but, I'm having some with growing succulents and roses and I've just introduced a diy greenhouse to my operation. I expect success.

Do you garden?

Cheers,

84 Flowers for a Beautiful Bouquet - #ClubBouquet

Hello, again!

Long time, no see.
What's new?

First, apologies if the title is misleading wordplay. You will not literally see 84 flowers in this post, however, it's not entirely impossible that this post may in fact lead you to 84 pictures of flowers...

I will, however, need your help in growing that number.

ClubBouquet is a community of flower and photography lovers from all over the world and like any good bunch of flowers, it takes lots of love, dedication, patience and hard work before we can reap the rewards.

At the moment, here's the different "flower beds" around the web that you can help tend to:

Facebook Group: This group is becoming the epicenter of the club's growth. Facebook Groups has all the tools to bring people together around a common interest. All are welcome. Bring your pics!

Tumblr Gallery: This is the freely accessible gallery of exclusive "bouquets" of flower photography by artscience84.

Flickr Gallery: This gallery is for ClubBouquet original photos by artscience84.

Patreon: Which brings me to the Patreon Creator feed. One way to achieve such access to Exclusive Galleries is to become a $1Blog member on Patreon.

We all love flowers.

Of all the time I've spent doing photography, some of my deepest connections have come from sharing a few pics of beautiful flowers with others.

It's still in the "seedling" stage but, I look forward to watching this grow and I hope you'll find yourself compelled to contribute to the bouquet for the enjoyment of all.

Cheers,

Josh
